Protests continued across the country on Sunday as members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded the registration of an FIR against the attack on former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Protests were held in many cities for the third consecutive day. The protesters said that they would continue their protest till the FIR is registered. The protesters also blocked Ghanta Ghar Chowk in Faisalabad during their protest. Protests were also held in Quetta's Red Zone and Karachi's five-star Chowringhee. According to ARY News, the heavy police force was also deployed to maintain law and order across the city.
Addressing the protesters, former minister and PTI member Farooq Habib claimed that the entire country stands with Imran Khan. ARY News quoted Habib as saying, Pakistan did not get freedom from slavery.
Earlier on Sunday, Imran Khan announced that his long march toward the capital Islamabad would resume on Tuesday from the same point in the city where he was attacked.
During a press conference in Lahore, Khan said, "We have decided that our march will resume on Tuesday from the same [point] in Wazirabad where I and 11 others were shot and where Moazzam was martyred."
Imran said in the press broadcast from his social media accounts PTI, I will address the march here (in Lahore) and our march will reach Rawalpindi within the next 10 to 14 days. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief said that once the march reaches Rawalpindi, he will join it and lead it himself.
Imran Khan was shot during his long march in Wazirabad on Thursday, leaving a bullet in his leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment after suffering a leg injury. A day after the alleged assassination attempt, the PTI chief said he was already aware that a murder plan was being hatched against him.
In his first address, Khan said that a day before going to the rally, he knew that a murder conspiracy was being hatched against him in Wazirabad or Gujarat. The 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician was ousted from power in April this year by a trust vote. A day after PTI chief Imran Khan leveled several allegations against the Pakistani establishment and the ruling government, Pakistan's top media body on Saturday again banned the telecast of Khan's speeches and press conferences on all TV channels.
