Australian captain Tim Paine said in Sydney on Wednesday that the mere presence of David Warner makes his team better and fills other players with enthusiasm and energy. Warner did not play in the first two matches of the four-Test series against India due to injury. He is likely to return to Sydney for the third match starting Thursday even though he is not fully fit.

Penn said on the eve of the match that it is expected that he will play and perform well and this will put direct pressure on the opposing team. When we are playing against any team, when David Warner is in the team, our team becomes better than their score or the energy that comes from them. He said that he defends our middle order as he is followed by Marnus Labuschen and Steve Smith. These batsmen get off when the bowlers are a little tired and get the advantage.

That's why David plays an important role for us. Penn used several adjectives to compliment Warner that could excite other players from his performance. Penn said that David is an amazing batsman. He instills confidence in fellow players. He is the kind of player you want in your team. He is an energetic, professional with whom I like to play.

The Australian captain may have said he would not declare the squad yet but gave enough indications that youngster Will Pukowski is now ready to make his debut after recovering from a minor head injury. He said that Will is also a great batsman. He remained out of the bio-safe environment for two weeks. He is fresh and batting well at the nets and seems ready to play his role when he is included in the team.

Pukowski has a record of concussion but Penn said he is not worried about the young batsman playing short pitch balls. He said that no, I am not worried but any player playing his first Test match is a bit nervous. Will has a head injury on a few occasions but he is playing short pitch balls well. As long as he is comfortable, we have no problem. He is ready to play and this (short pitch balls) is not a concern for him.
