'India is everything to me: Akshay Kumar to give up Canadian citizenship, applies for Indian citizenship

Akshay Kumar recently talked about his citizenship in an interview during the promotion of his upcoming film 'Selfie'. Akshay Kumar says India is everything to him and he has already applied for a change in his passport. At the same time, he also said that he feels bad when people say something without knowing the reason for his Canadian citizenship.

 

Akshay applied for citizenship after 15 films flopped

 

Akshay Kumar said, 'Whatever I have earned, whatever I have got, I have got it from here and I am fortunate that I have got the opportunity to give back. I feel bad when people say anything without knowing anything.

 

Akshay Kumar had more than 15 films flopped in the 1990s. Talking about this, he said that the poor box office performance of the films had prompted him to apply for Canadian citizenship.

 

Akshay wanted to go to Canada on the advice of a friend

 

Akshay says, 'I thought that my films are not working and I have to work. I went there for work. My friend was in Canada and he said to come here. I applied and I left.

 

I have applied to replace my passport

 

Akshay further says, 'Only two of my films were left to release and it is a matter of luck that both of them became super hits. My friend said to go back, and start working again. I got a few more films and kept getting more work. I forgot that I have a passport. I never thought that I should get this passport replaced, but now yes, I have applied to replace my passport.

Akshay is always the target of people because of his Canadian citizenship. His Canadian citizenship has always been a matter of debate among people. Akshay had promised his fans three years ago that he would soon apply for an Indian passport.
