Good Friday 2023: 'Good Friday', one of the main festivals of Christianity, will be celebrated this time on 7th April. There are many beliefs attached to this festival celebrated after Maundy Thursday and before Easter Sunday. Christians believe that on this day Jesus Christ was crucified. Good Friday is also known by different names like Holy Friday and Easter Friday. The dates of Easter and Good Friday are determined by the lunar cycle as well as the timing of the Jewish festival of Passover, which is based on the Bible story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

Good Friday, also known by various names, is not a day of celebration but a day of mourning. It is believed that on this day Jesus Christ himself suffered and sacrificed his life to free humanity from sins. Jesus was nailed to a large wooden cross and nails were driven into his palms and feet. The nail-studded body of Jesus Christ came to be regarded as a holy figure and since then this form has been worshipped. Despite this, there is a belief among Christians that "Good Friday" means "Friday of the Lord". On this day people remember and pray to him to get rid of their pain and suffering.

Good Friday is an important occasion in the Christian community. Because Jesus Christ was crucified on this day, this day is also known as Black Friday among Christians. According to experts, 'good' is derived from 'holy', while Friday was the day when Jesus Christ was crucified. Good Friday symbolizes the victory of good over evil. According to Christian belief, it is believed that Jesus Christ took upon himself all the sins of the world with his death.

 

Good Friday 2023: Celebrations

To celebrate this day, people of the Christian religion fast to seek the blessings of Jesus Christ. A special prayer service is held in the church at exactly 3 pm, which marks the time when Jesus Christ left for his heavenly abode. Worshipers of Christ in Jerusalem walk to the site where Jesus was crucified. Apart from this, some devotees also celebrate this day by wearing black clothes and keeping silent for the whole day.
