India-Russia: Russian Ambassador said - India-Russia relations are among the world's most comprehensive cooperation

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said the India-Russia multi-faceted cooperation is one of the widest in the world and the countries have been successful in "building true friendship and mutual trust", marking several proud milestones.

 

 

He made these remarks in a preface to a special edition of Russia Digest magazine on the 75th anniversary of Russia-India diplomatic relations. The National Day of Russia is also celebrated on 12 June.

 

 

The year 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of India's independence and the 75th anniversary of the Indo-Russian diplomatic ties established in April 1947, the year of the meeting of the two occasions. Talking about the milestones achieved in relations between the two countries, Alipov spoke of the industrialization and construction of power plants in India with Soviet aid in the 1950s-1960s.

 

He mentioned the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay in 1958, the 1971 Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation, the flight of the first Indian astronaut on the Soyuz T-11 spacecraft in 1984, and the 2000 Declaration of Strategic Partnership, and many other achievements.

 

A special initiative between the two countries

 

The Ambassador elaborated on the key initiatives. Among these are Kudankulam nuclear power plant construction and advanced defense linkages such as AK-203 rifle manufacturing, fighter aircraft, and main battle tank production as well as a frigate, submarine, BrahMos, and other missile projects within the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat programs.
