Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan and is set to join IPL 2022 franchise Delhi Capitals where he will go through the recovery process of his hip flexor injury. Marsh was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.5 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.
Delhi Capitals bought only seven overseas players in the mega auction and fielded only two of them against Mumbai due to lack of availability and injuries to other key players. Marsh and David Warner were to join the team after April 6.
Cricket Australia said in a statement on Wednesday that Marsh would be released after being assessed as unavailable for the remaining three matches of the tour. It added, "Marsh will travel to India to join the Delhi Capitals team, where former Australian and current New South Wales physiotherapist Pat Farhart will manage his recovery."
Australia will also play a T20 match to end their tour of Pakistan, in which they defeated 1–0 in the three-Test series. "The best way is to be able to focus on my recovery without the travel and isolation," Marsh said.
