Trudeau announced on Monday that as soon as a new candidate is chosen, he will resign from the post of leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister. Trudeau said that he has asked the Liberal Party president to select a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

 

Justin Trudeau said, 'After the party elects the next leader, I will resign from the post of party leader and Prime Minister. If I have to fight internal battles, then I cannot be a good candidate. I have asked the Liberal Party president to look for a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister.'

 

Trudeau's resignation comes after a long parliamentary deadlock, which has been the longest session in the history of Canada. He has advised the Governor General to prorogue the House on March 24, so that a new session of Parliament can begin.
