The Rouse Avenue Court has framed charges of corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav in a case related to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam.

Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogane passed the order in the case on Monday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that Lalu Yadav, who served as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, abused his position and improperly awarded contracts for the lease of two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri to the private company Sujata Hotels.

"Will face trial"

In return, land worth crores was transferred to a company linked to his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav at a price far below market value. The court framed charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy against Lalu Yadav, while Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav have also been charged with several offenses of conspiracy and cheating. Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Yadav, and Tejashwi Yadav have all denied the charges and stated that they will face trial.

A Delhi court framed charges against the accused under various sections based on their alleged roles. Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav have been charged under sections 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code for the crimes of cheating and conspiracy. They stated that they will face trial. The court framed charges under different sections. However, all the accused are charged with criminal conspiracy. Lalu Prasad Yadav has pleaded not guilty and says he will face trial.

On September 24, Special Judge Vishal Gogane directed former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi, his son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, and other accused to appear before it on the said date.

The court reserved its decision on May 29 after hearing arguments from all parties in the case. The case relates to allegations of corruption in the allocation of contracts for maintenance of IRCTC hotels during Lalu Prasad Yadav's tenure as Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009.
