Comedian Kunal Kamra is constantly in the headlines after making controversial comments about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with the help of a film song. All Shinde supporters including Shiv Sena MP say that Kunal will have to apologize to Shinde immediately. Amidst the continuous rhetoric, Kunal Kamra released his detailed statement late on Monday night. Kamra said that he did not say anything for which he should apologize. In a detailed statement released on his official X handle, he said, 'I will not apologize. What I said is the same as what Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also said.'

According to Kamra, Ajit Pawar has also made comments like 'treachery' about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said that he was not afraid of this crowd. Kamra said, he will not hide under his bed and wait for this incident to calm down. On the controversial remarks of the 36-year-old comedian, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, Kamra should apologize for his comments.

 

Also commented on threatening calls and freedom of the press in India.

 

Along with refusing to apologize for controversial remarks, Kamra also said that people calling to threaten will hear the same song that they hate. Those who are leaking my number or calling continuously, I am sure they must have understood by now that all the unknown calls are going to voicemail. Kamra also said that the way this matter is being reported in the media needs to be thought about. Kamra said that India comes at number 159 in the list of top countries in the world in terms of press freedom.

He said, 'If you cannot tolerate a joke that has been made on an influential person, it does not mean that my right to this will end. As far as I know, it is not illegal to criticize our leaders and our political system. I am ready to cooperate with the police and the courts in any legitimate legal action.'

He said, perhaps he would like to select Elphinstone Bridge or any dilapidated structure in Mumbai for his next show, which needs to be demolished.
