Argentinian football legend Lionel Messi, one of the biggest stars in the world of football, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to India at the conclusion of his GOAT India Tour. Messi described the love, respect, and hospitality he received in India as unforgettable and said that the experience here was special for him. This tour generated tremendous excitement among football fans across the country.

 

 

Messi posted on the social media platform X, saying "Namaste" to India and describing his visits to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata as wonderful. He wrote that the love and affection he received throughout the tour were unforgettable. Messi expressed hope that the future of football in India would be bright.

 

 

A Confluence of Cricket and Football in Delhi

In the final leg of the GOAT India Tour, Messi visited Jamnagar in Gujarat, where he toured the Vantara Wildlife Conservation Centre. Following this, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, ICC Chairman Jay Shah presented Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Luis Suárez with Indian cricket team jerseys. Messi received jersey number 10, Suárez number nine, and De Paul number seven. Messi was also presented with a special autographed cricket bat and invited to the upcoming T20 World Cup.

 

 

Two Different Pictures in Kolkata and Hyderabad

Messi's welcome in Kolkata was historic, but the event at the Salt Lake Stadium also saw some disorganisation. Due to the massive crowd and VIP movement, some fans were upset, and the situation became tense. In Hyderabad, however, the atmosphere was entirely festive. Messi played an exhibition match with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and also met with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Messi, Suárez, and De Paul won the hearts of football fans. The event began with cultural performances, followed by a friendly match.
