New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) A 35-year old man from Jodhpur, who had symptoms similar to those of Ebola virus disease, died Wednesday at the AIIMS hospital, officials said.
The final report will confirm the disease the patient was suffering from, the officials said.
The man was referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from a private hospital in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and was admitted to the department of medicine in a critical condition Tuesday evening.
"It's too early to say that he was suffering from Ebola. In fact, there is very less chances of it. But he was definitely suffering from some viral haemorrhagic fever. He died of excessive internal bleeding Wednesday morning," an AIIMS spokesperson told IANS.
According to doctors, the man was very sick when he arrived and had symptoms such as high fever, vomiting, disorientation and severe weight loss, which are also symptoms of Ebola.
Test samples of the patient have been sent to the National Institute of Biology and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases. The reports will come by next week, the spokesperson said.
