New Delhi, March 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he shared the "pain and sorrow" of all those affected by the cyclone in Vanuatu.
"The devastation caused by Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu is extremely unfortunate. I share the sorrow and pain of all those who have been affected. The Ministry of External Affairs will provide immediate financial assistance to people of Vanuatu. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Vanuatu in this hour of grief," the prime minister said.
At least eight people were killed in Vanuatu due to Saturday's cyclone that generated gusts of up to 330 km per hour. The gales extended some 380 km from the storm centre.
