Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has issued a stern warning to foreign players who are abandoning the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the last minute to join the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mohsin Naqvi Warns Those Leaving the PSL

In fact, for the past two years, the dates for the PSL and IPL have clashed, leading many players to prioritize the IPL.

Recently, Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka parted ways with the Lahore Qalandars to head toward the IPL. The Rajasthan Royals have signed Dasun as a replacement for the injured Sam Curran.

Prior to Shanaka, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani also left Islamabad United to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad. Consequently, the PCB Chairman has expressed his outrage regarding players who are deserting the PSL at the eleventh hour to rush to the IPL. He has made it clear that the Board will take strict action against these players.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that action would be taken, in accordance with the rules, against any players who betray the league at the last moment.

The PCB Chairman further added:

“Last year, Corbin Bosch was handed a one-year ban because he left Peshawar Zalmi to join the Mumbai Indians. The same will happen this time as well.” — Mohsin Naqvi.

Naqvi noted that it was not possible to alter the PSL dates, as there were no other available windows throughout the entire year. However, he also pointed out that while some players are leaving, many excellent foreign players are, in fact, arriving in Pakistan.

Which Players Have Withdrawn from the PSL?

It is not just Shanaka and Muzarabani; several other players have also withdrawn their names from the PSL for various reasons. These include Gudakesh Motie, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Ottniel Baartman, and Spencer Johnson.
