Monsoon has entered the country. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon has entered Kerala and it is raining heavily there. With the arrival of monsoon, many states are going to get relief from the scorching heat.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that the entry of monsoon has happened two days earlier than expected. Today i.e. on 30th May, the monsoon has advanced in most parts of Northeast India.
First monsoon rain in Kottayam
The first monsoon rain has been recorded in many parts of the Kottayam district of Kerala. According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon has knocked in Kerala and has reached most parts of Northeast India today on 30th May.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD Monsoon Update), the southwest monsoon has arrived two days before the forecast of June 1 this time. In a few hours, the monsoon will reach many states of Northeast India.
Cyclone 'Remal' accelerates monsoon flow
Meteorologists said Cyclone 'Remal', which passed through West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday, has pulled the monsoon flow towards the Bay of Bengal, which could be a reason for its premature onset in the Northeast. The India Meteorological Department said the southwest monsoon has arrived in Kerala.
Heavy rains in Kerala
According to the Meteorological Department data, Kerala has been receiving heavy rains for the last few days, resulting in additional rains in May. The normal date of arrival of monsoon in Kerala is June 1, while in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, and Assam, this date is June 5.
The IMD declares the arrival of monsoon in Kerala when 14 centers in Kerala and neighboring areas receive rainfall of 2.5 mm or more for two consecutive days at any time after May 10, the outgoing longwave radiation is low and the wind direction is southwesterly.
Scientists say that currently El Nino conditions persist and La Nina conditions may develop by August-September.
