National Achievement Survey 2021 Report: At least 44 percent of school teachers in the country do not have enough workspace, while 65 percent of teachers are overworked. This disclosure has been made in the report of the National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2021 conducted by the Union Ministry of Education. The survey also found that only 58 percent of teachers had participated in discussions related to the new National Education Policy (NEP).
The National Achievement Survey was conducted by the Union Education Ministry on November 12 last year across the country. It was attended by over five lakh teachers and 34 lakh students from 1.18 lakh schools in 720 districts, both rural and urban. Earlier, the National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2017 was conducted by the ministry.
According to the National Achievement Survey (NAS) report, only 42 percent of teachers have participated in individual or collaborative research work. While 97% of the teachers claimed job satisfaction. However, at least 92 percent of them believed there was scope for professional development.
According to the report, 65 percent of teachers have been in formal dialogue with fellow teachers on how to improve teaching in collaboration with Block Resource Center (BRC) and Resource Center (CRC), while 42 percent of teachers have consulted Block Resource Center (CRC). and attended the training. At least 52 percent of teachers have participated in professional development programs conducted by DIET, CBSE, and NCERT, the survey said.
The National Achievement Survey has covered government, government-aided and private schools. The Achievement Test with Questionnaires - Student Questionnaire, Teacher Questionnaire, and School Questionnaire was developed and translated into 22 different languages by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
This nationwide survey was completed by CBSE in a single day at the same time. The survey was managed through a technology platform designed and developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC).
