The year 2022 is special for India. In January 2022, India will chair the Committee on Counter-Terrorism in the United Nations Security Council. India has indicated that it will make the fight against terrorism among the members of the Security Council an issue. India will get a great opportunity to expose the Government of Pakistan engaged in promoting terrorism. India has said that it will work with allies on terrorism. It will be India's effort to take action against the terrorists taking refuge in Pakistan.
- Prof. Harsh V Pant said that India has given a strong message to Pakistan in the New Year that now Pakistan will have to take concrete action against terrorism. He said Ambassador TS Trimurti to the United Nations has made it clear that India's stand on terrorism will be tough. Prof Pant said that on the issue of terrorism, he has also appealed to all the member countries to support India in this matter. He said that India's strategy is clear that India will exert all-round pressure on Pakistan regarding terrorism.
- Prof. Pant said that India has made it clear that it will follow the policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism. For this, the cooperation of other countries will also be taken. The Pakistan government will be worried about this stand of India. With this, India has said that it will also work towards making the CTC more effective. He said that India's motive behind this is to implement the decisions of the CTC more effectively.
- Prof. Pant said that India's tough stand after the recent gray list of Pakistan by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will add to its concern. This will make it difficult to save terrorists like Azhar Masood, Hafiz Saeed. He said that Pakistan has not been able to come out of the gray list of FATF for the third consecutive year. He said that he has fulfilled 30 out of 34 conditions. There are four very important conditions, these are yet to be worked out. The special thing is that FATF has also kept Turkey, which supported Pakistan on the Kashmir issue, in the gray list. Turkey is accused of negligence in monitoring and acting on terror financing. He was being monitored since 2019. He took some action as a pretense, but it was not enough.
- He said that the way the global community is divided regarding terrorism after the incident in Afghanistan, is a matter of great concern. India has said that it should oppose marking terrorists based on their motivation. For this, the international community must unite. The division on this issue will once again bring the world back to the situation it was in before the September 11 attack on America. Then there was an atmosphere of 'our terrorists' and 'your terrorists'. We cannot allow anyone to justify any kind of terrorism.
