The whole country is preparing for celebrations on New Year's Eve. In such a situation, security arrangements have been tightened. Police deployment has been increased in all major cities and some advisories have also been issued by the administration. People have been appealed not to drive after drinking alcohol. In Bangalore, the administration has made it compulsory to wear masks in the New Year celebrations. Also, whistling in public places has been banned.

Bangalore Police on Tuesday banned whistling in public places on New Year's Eve and made wearing masks compulsory. As preparations are being made to welcome the New Year in Bangalore, the government and the police have made extensive security arrangements. More than 2,000 policemen will be deployed on MG Road, where more than one lakh people gather every year around midnight. Along with this, strict security arrangements have also been made in Brigade Road, Church Street, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, and Koramangala. More than 1,000 additional policemen have been deployed in Koramangala.
Special arrangements for women's safety
Monitoring will be done from the CCTV control room. 150 cameras have been installed at sensitive places. All flyovers will remain closed, while metro and bus services from MG Road will run till 2 am. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has announced that persons harassing women will be fined Rs 500 and such offenders will be handed over to the police. Security personnel will be deployed in every metro coach to ensure the safety of passengers. Rani Chennamma Special Squad has been deployed for women's safety. Watchtowers have been built and health services will also be available at public places.
Strict security arrangements in the capital Delhi and Mumbai
Guidelines have also been issued to avoid road accidents and traffic jams in the capital Delhi. In Mumbai, eight additional commissioners, 29 deputy commissioners, 53 assistant commissioners, 2184 inspectors, and more than 12 thousand constables have been deployed on the city roads so that there is no disruption in the New Year celebrations. QRT teams (Quick Response Teams), anti-riot forces, and home guards have also been deployed. Checkpoints have been set up at various places in the city and police will patrol crowded places. Special attention will be paid to those who drive under the influence of alcohol and those who harass women and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
