Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in Lok Sabha that the Srinagar-Jammu road will have a connection to connect with the upcoming Katra-Amritsar-Delhi road, allowing seamless connectivity. He said that the journey from Srinagar to Mumbai will be done by this road in 20 hours. Gadkari said that I am trying to get it done by the end of the year. Regarding new roads, he said that Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is being prepared. The Delhi-Amritsar section will be ready by the end of this year and the distance will be covered in four hours.

He said that the Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Mumbai, and Delhi-Dehradun expressways would be built by the end of the year. Jaipur and Dehradun can be reached in two hours each, while the distance between Delhi-Mumbai will be covered in 12 hours by car. The minister said that he has set a target to open the tunnel under Joji La, an 11,650 feet high pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway, by 2024. On the roads connecting the religious circuit, Gadkari said that the route to Mansarovar (in Tibet) via Uttarakhand would be ready by the end of 2023.
