The death toll due to the landslide on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route has risen to 33. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this incident and has announced all possible help. He has wished for the speedy recovery of the injured in this accident. Rescue work is going on on the Yatra route.
In addition, three devotees were swept away after a car fell into Chenani Nala in Jammu. Out of the three missing devotees, two are from Dholpur in Rajasthan and one is from Agra. Now, the Devika bridge near AIIMS in Vijaypur on this highway has also been damaged. After this, the road traffic was completely closed. In Samba, army personnel have safely rescued seven people of the nomadic Gujjar community from the river. A holiday has been declared on 27th August in all the schools and colleges of the Jammu division.
