Army Chief MM Naravane: Army Chief General MM Naravane has once again warned China not to dare to take India's 'test of patience'. The Army Chief has said that the unilateral status quo on the LAC will not be allowed to change at any cost, as India's "patience is a symbol of confidence".

On Saturday, on the occasion of 74th Army Day, Army Chief General Naravane was addressing soldiers at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Cantt, capital Delhi. On this occasion, General Naravane said that the last year has been very challenging. Speaking on the situation in the Line of Actual Control (LAC) adjoining eastern Ladakh, the Army Chief said that there has been disengagement with the Chinese Army in many areas, which is a positive step, but at any cost, China should be given one-way. The status quo will not be allowed to change.

On the situation in the Line of Control (LoC), the Army Chief said that the situation has improved to a great extent since the ceasefire agreement between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan last year, but added that the LoC is still on the Pakistani side of 350- 400 soldiers are present, who are trying to infiltrate. The smuggling of weapons from Pakistan's side with drones is still going on. The army chief also made the soldiers aware of the situation in Kashmir and the northeast states.

Welcoming women in the army, he said that from June this year, women cadets will be able to enroll in the National Defense Academy ie NDA. At the same time, he said that women have been approved to become pilots in Army Aviation. On the occasion of Army Day, General Naravane took several salutes in the parade at Cariappa Ground. On this occasion, different regiments and combat units of the army took part in the march past. The special thing is that in the march past, the soldiers have appeared in different uniforms of the Indian Army since the first war. Along with this, for the first time, the new combat uniform of the army was also visible.

That's why Army Day is celebrated

On this day in 1949, the Indian Army got the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in the form of General KM Cariappa, that is why Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January. On the occasion of Army Day, at Cariappa Ground, the Army displayed a recreation of all the battles and operations from the 1947-48 war to the 2016 surgical strike. During this, along with senior military officers of the army, diplomats, and defense-attaches of friendly countries were also present.
