The Government of India has launched Operation Sindhu for the safe return of Indian citizens from crisis-hit Iran. Under this operation, a special flight carrying 296 Indian citizens and four Nepali citizens reached New Delhi on Wednesday. The faces of the people leaving crisis-hit Iran lit up with joy upon their safe return to their homeland. Some thanked God while some praised the Indian Embassy. So far, 3,154 Indian citizens have been evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave information about this.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated in a post on X that these citizens were brought to India by a special plane from Iran. The plane reached New Delhi from Mashhad on June 25 at 16:30 pm. Earlier, India had evacuated more than 1,100 citizens from Iran and Israel on Tuesday. 594 Indians were brought back from Israel.
Indian government's operation amid tension
Let us tell you that India started this operation when missile and drone attacks between Iran and Israel started increasing continuously. Indian citizens are being brought to India through specially chartered flights from cities like Mashhad (Iran), Yerevan (Armenia) and Ashgabat (Turkmenistan). Along with this, amid increasing tension, on Friday, Iran allowed three chartered flights to fly through its airspace, especially for India. After this, the Indian government launched Operation Sindhu for rescue.
Iran thanked the Indians for standing with them during the conflict.
At the same time, Iran expressed gratitude to the freedom-loving citizens of India, political parties, institutions, and others who stood with Tehran during the military attacks on it by Israel and America.
The Iranian Embassy said in a statement on Wednesday that it appreciates the real and invaluable support of those who stood with Tehran. However, it did not make any reference to the Indian government in it. The embassy said that when the Iranian people were under military attack, messages of solidarity, support, public statements, and active participation in peace-oriented celebrations were a source of encouragement for us.
