The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has imposed a one-match ban on India's Amit Rohidas, due to which he will not be able to play in the Paris Olympics semi-final match against Germany on Tuesday. Rohidas was shown a red card in the quarter-final match played against Britain on Sunday, due to which he left the field in the second quarter. The Indian hockey team has made it to the semi-finals by defeating Britain.
The Indian team played with 10 players
In the 17th minute of the match, Rohidas' hockey stick hit the head of a British player, but the referee considered it a deliberate act and excluded him from the entire match. In this way, the Indian team played with 10 players for about 42 minutes. However, the Harmanpreet Singh-led team did not give up and qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Britain in the penalty shootout.
What did the FIH say in the statement?
FIH said in an official statement, that Amit Rohidas was suspended for one match for violating the FIH Code of Conduct during the match played between India and Britain on August 4. The suspension will affect match number 35 (India's semi-final match against Germany), in which Amit Rohidas will not participate and India will play with a team of only 15 players.
Hockey India raised questions
Hockey India officially expressed concern over the quality of umpiring in the hockey event at the Paris Olympics. This complaint was related to the quarter-final match between India and Britain in which several umpiring decisions affected the result of the match. In this complaint, Hockey India mentioned the inconsistent video umpire review system in relation to the red card shown to Rohidas in three important points, as well as questioned the coaching of the goalkeeper during the shootout and the use of video tablet by the goalkeeper.

FIH issued a statement confirming the one-match ban on Rohidas. Although Hockey India has challenged the federation's decision, in the current situation, there is doubt over Rohidas playing in the semi-final match. It is believed that FIH will hear this appeal on Monday and submit its reply.
