Apart from this, he was the captain of the IPL franchise Punjab Kings for the last two years, but both the times under his captaincy, the team finished sixth. According to cricket experts, after the clean sweep in the ODI series, the captaincy of Rahul has also been eclipsed.
During the 50 over series, Lokesh Rahul was seen making many mistakes in captaincy. He failed to make consistent changes in the bowling attack. Also, even after considering Venkatesh Iyer as the sixth bowling option, he did not bowl much to him. Also, the lack of faith in Rahul's captaincy was visible.

On the questions being raised on the captaincy, Rahul said- I am not making an excuse to avoid this defeat, but I think our team is constantly trying to do well. I have learned a lot while captaining. Defeat makes you stronger than victory. My career has always been like this. I've always got everything slowly. I believe in my captaincy and know that I can get the best out of my players. I know I can do well for my country and the franchise.
