Philosophy of KL after defeat: Captain Rahul claims on embarrassing defeat – I will do better in captaincy, the team will become stronger by defeat

The Indian team's tour of South Africa was no less than a nightmare. The first team suffered a 2-1 defeat in the 3-match Test series. After that in the ODI series also, the African team defeated India 3-0. After the humiliating defeat in the ODI series, question marks have been raised on the captaincy of KL Rahul.

 

Many cricket experts believe that Rahul is not yet fully prepared for the captaincy. However, KL Rahul has said a lot about his captaincy. According to him, he has full faith in his leadership ability. Also, KL believes that Team India's white-ball cricket needs a change as soon as possible.

 

Now it's time for a change in White Ball cricket

Lokesh Rahul said in his statement- It is a matter of great pride to play for our country and to lead the team and a dream come true. Yes, the results were not favorable to us, but I think there was a lot to learn. We are at a stage now where our focus is on the World Cup. We are working towards getting better as a team. I think we have played very good cricket in the last 4 or 5 years but it is time for us to get better and make a difference in white-ball cricket.

 

Questions are being raised on captaincy

Before the ODI series, Rahul was also seen captaining the team in the second Test match played against South Africa in Johannesburg and India had to face defeat by 7 wickets. Apart from this, he was the captain of the IPL franchise Punjab Kings for the last two years, but both the times under his captaincy, the team finished sixth. According to cricket experts, after the clean sweep in the ODI series, the captaincy of Rahul has also been eclipsed.

 

During the 50 over series, Lokesh Rahul was seen making many mistakes in captaincy. He failed to make consistent changes in the bowling attack. Also, even after considering Venkatesh Iyer as the sixth bowling option, he did not bowl much to him. Also, the lack of faith in Rahul's captaincy was visible.

 

I trust my leadership skills

On the questions being raised on the captaincy, Rahul said- I am not making an excuse to avoid this defeat, but I think our team is constantly trying to do well. I have learned a lot while captaining. Defeat makes you stronger than victory. My career has always been like this. I've always got everything slowly. I believe in my captaincy and know that I can get the best out of my players. I know I can do well for my country and the franchise.
