Journalist Boria Majumdar, who threatened Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha for an interview, has been banned by the BCCI for two years. The BCCI had constituted a three-member committee to investigate the matter. The committee had found Majumdar guilty in this case and now action has been taken against him. After Saha was dropped from India\'s Test team, Majumdar wanted to talk to him on the matter, but when Saha refused, Majumdar was furious and threatened to never do the interview.
What now after Majumdar\'s ban?
1. Majumdar will not be able to enter the stadium as a media representative during any international or domestic match involving BCCI and will also not be able to attend the post-match press conference.
2. Will not be able to interview any Indian player whose name is registered with BCCI.
3. Boria Majumdar will not be able to avail cricket facilities of BCCI or its affiliated members. This means that they will not even be allowed to go to institutions like the NCA and talk to any player.
What\'s the matter?
The Indian team for the T20 and Test series against Sri Lanka was announced by the BCCI on 19 February. But experienced wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha did not find a place in it. After this, Boria Majumdar sent a WhatsApp message to Saha and demanded an interview, to which Saha did not respond. Then they were threatened by Majumdar with dire consequences. Saha had expressed his displeasure by sharing the screenshot of the whole thing on his Twitter handle.
What did Majumdar say?
Majumdar wrote to Saha, \"Have an interview with me, that would be great. If you want to be democratic, I won\'t put pressure on you. He picks one wicketkeeper, who is the best. You try to pick 11 journalists.\" Do what I think is not right. the one who can help you the most.\" Majumdar later wrote, \"You didn\'t call. I\'ll never interview you again. I don\'t tolerate insults and I\'ll remember it. You shouldn\'t have done that.\"
Saha shared screenshots of this conversation on his Twitter account. After this, many bigwigs of the cricket world supported Saha and demanded the BCCI take action in this matter. The BCCI formed a three-member committee, which probed the entire matter. During this, it was revealed that Boria Majumdar was the journalist who had threatened Saha. Saha is currently busy playing IPL. He is representing the Gujarat Titans team.
