Prime Minister Modi arrived in Trinidad and Tobago today on the second leg of his five-nation tour. On reaching Port of Spain, he was given a grand welcome by singing Bhojpuri Chautal in a desi style with Jhal-Taase and Dhol Manjire. He was overwhelmed to see his welcome in such a desi style. PM Modi has described it as a cultural connection between the two countries. He said that it is not found anywhere else in the world.

PM Modi was mesmerized by the welcome with the traditional performance of Bhojpuri Chautal in Trinidad and Tobago. He described this kind of welcome as incomparable. PM Modi has shared his feelings by posting in Bhojpuri on his official X account. PM Modi wrote, 'A cultural connection that is not found anywhere else! Very happy to see the Bhojpuri Chautal performance in Port of Spain. The connection between Trinidad and Tobago and India, especially parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, is remarkable.'

 

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi also met the people of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago and appreciated their contribution to the development of the country. He said that the diaspora community has not only achieved success in various fields, but they are also deeply connected with Indian culture.

 

PM Modi also met the participants who won the Know India Quiz in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

During this, the Prime Minister also talked about his meeting with Shankar Ramjattan, Nicholas Maraj, and Vince Mahato, who won the Know India Quiz in Trinidad and Tobago. Regarding this, he said that he met the youth Shankar Ramjattan, Nicholas Maraj, and Vince Mahato, winners of the Know India Quiz in Trinidad and Tobago. This quiz has generated wide participation across the world and deepened the engagement of our diaspora community with India.

 

An Indian PM visits Trinidad and Tobago after 25 years.

 

Earlier, highlighting the importance of PM Modi's visit to Trinidad and Tobago, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, the Prime Minister of India reached the capital, Port of Spain, on his historic visit. He was welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Kamala Prasad Bissessar and his other cabinet ministers. This visit is historic from India's side because a Prime Minister has come here after 25 years.

 

This Caribbean country has a special relationship with UP-Bihar.

 

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, a total of 13 lakh people live in this country. Of these, 45 percent are of Indian origin. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, the relationship between India and Trinidad and Tobago is very strong and special. Most of the 45% people living here are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Most of these people have come from Bhojpuri-speaking districts like Chapra, Ara, Ballia, Siwan, Gopalganj, Banaras, and Azamgarh.
