Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised US President Donald Trump for leading the peace efforts in Gaza. In a post shared on social media, PM Modi wrote, "Amid decisive progress in Gaza peace efforts, we welcome President Trump's leadership. The signs of the hostage release are an important step. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a lasting and just peace."

Trump gave Hamas an ultimatum.

US President Donald Trump prepared a 20-point peace proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, which Israel accepted. Hamas also agreed to the release of hostages and the transfer of Gaza's power to other Palestinians. However, Hamas has stated that decisions on several other points of the peace proposal will be taken after discussion. Trump had given Hamas an ultimatum until 6 pm on Sunday to decide on the peace proposal. Trump threatened that if Hamas did not accept the peace proposal, it would pay a heavy price.

Following Trump's threat, Hamas has agreed to release Israeli hostages on October 7, 2023. Although many points remain to be decided, the release of the hostages represents a major step toward bringing peace to Gaza. Hamas currently holds 48 Israeli hostages, of whom approximately 20 have died. The hostages are to be released within 72 hours. In return, Israel has agreed to cease attacks in Gaza, and a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza is also a condition.

What is Trump's 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza?

1. Gaza will be made a terror-free zone so that it no longer poses a threat to neighboring countries.

2. Reconstruction and development work will begin in Gaza, improving the lives of its people.

3. As soon as both sides accept this plan, Israel will immediately cease military operations and begin a phased withdrawal of troops from Gaza. 4. All hostages will be released within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the plan.

5. Following the release of the hostages, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences. Furthermore, 1,700 Gazans detained after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, will also be released. Furthermore, for every Israeli hostage, Israel will return the bodies of 15 Gaza prisoners.

6. Hamas members who pledge to live together peacefully will be granted amnesty. Those who wish to leave will be provided with safe passage and the option to settle in any willing country.

7. Following the agreement, humanitarian aid will be sent to Gaza on a large scale. At least 600 trucks of relief supplies will arrive daily.

8. The distribution of aid supplies will be coordinated by international organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Crescent.

9. Gaza's administration will be in the hands of Palestinian technical experts, overseen by an international committee. Donald Trump himself will lead it, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will support him.

10. An economic reconstruction plan for Gaza will be developed, generating investment and employment opportunities. This will be promoted by international organizations.

11. A special economic zone will be established in Gaza, providing tax breaks and business facilities.

12. No resident will be forced to leave Gaza. Those who leave will have the right to return.

13. Hamas will have no role in Gaza's governance, and all terrorist tunnels and military infrastructure will be dismantled.

Regional countries will ensure that Hamas and other groups adhere to the agreement.

14. Temporary security forces, assisted by the United States and its allies, will be deployed in Gaza. These will provide security and training to local police.

15. Israel will neither annex nor permanently occupy Gaza.

16. If Hamas delays accepting the proposal, the plan will first be implemented in terror-free zones.

17. Israel will not attack Qatar, while the international community will recognize Qatar's mediating role in the Gaza crisis.

18. Religious and cultural programs will be conducted to wean the people of Gaza away from extremism.

19. When the reconstruction of Gaza and the reform program of the Palestinian Authority are completed, the path to a future Palestinian state may be opened.

20. The United States will advance negotiations on a long-term political solution between Israel and Palestine.
