Railways have laid off 177 employees in the last 16 months. According to the news agency PTI, officials said that every three days from July 2021, one corrupt official or non-performer of the Railways has been pulled out. So far 139 officers have been forced to take voluntary retirement, while 38 have been removed from service.
Officials said many of the 139 officers are those who resigned or opted for VRS after not getting promotions or being sent on leave. There are also cases where circumstances were created to compel them to opt for retirement.
