PTV is the official broadcaster of Pakistan. On Tuesday night, Shoaib Akhtar, who was the star bowler of Pakistan's cricket team, had to face on-air humiliation in PTV's show 'Game On Hai'.
This incident happened in this show after the victory of Pakistan against New Zealand. Shoaib Akhtar has to face humiliation among foreign guests. All of them were analyzing the match in this show.
Shoaib Akhtar praised Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars in the show and said that players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Harris Rauf came from this team.
Noman Niaz was hosting this show. Noman got angry at Shoaib Akhtar during this time. Noman rebuked Shoaib on the show and said, "You are a bit rude and I do not want to say this, but if you want to be smarter then you can leave from here."
Shoaib Akhtar was shocked to hear this and he could not understand anything. But after saying this, Noman went to another guest. It is not yet clear what made Noman feel bad for asking Shoaib to leave the show. The tension had increased a lot. Because of this, Noman announced a commercial break.
The show resumed after the break but the tension had not eased from the atmosphere. Shoaib tried to handle things, but the situation did not work out. Eventually, Shoaib decided to leave from there. Shoaib got up and left, apologizing to the other guests. The show also featured Sana Mir, Sir Vivian Richards, and David Gower.
Shoaib took out his mic and said, "I am very sorry. I am resigning from PTV. Looking at the way I have been treated on National TV, I feel that it is just no more. That's why I'm leaving. Thanks.''
Despite this, Noman did not pay any attention to Shoaib and continued reading his script. After this Shoaib Akhtar issued a video statement. He has posted this video on his Twitter account.
Shoaib Akhtar has said in this video, "An unpleasant incident has happened on PTV. I don't know why Noman did this. Didn't even tell anything and went on break. A national star has been humiliated unnecessarily on National TV. He completely isolated me and went on a break. After that I thought that all the superstars are sitting, foreigners are sitting, what will be the image? I told Noman that the clip of what you have done with me will go viral.
''There's no solution for that. I said to end it and find some way so that no dirty message gets sent out. Don't mind the foreigners. I said you say sorry to me only on TV but he didn't. After that, I decided that I should leave here.
Shoaib says, "I tried to compensate for the loss during the program, but it did not happen. I felt very bad. The foreigners were sitting together and what would they have thought. After that, there was no option but to leave from there.
The people of Pakistan are strongly criticizing this incident. A person named Umar Feroz wrote on Twitter, "PTV runs on people's money and we cannot tolerate that no one even knows how to talk to the great player of this country. As a taxpayer, I demand from the government that immediate action should be taken against Noman Niaz.
Pakistan's senior journalist Mubasher Lukman has written, "The way Noman Niazi has insulted our national hero Shoaib Akhtar on PTV, it is very sad. Shoaib is the real hero and always will be. I can't believe Noman has done this.
