Sushmita Dev became an MP from the Silchar seat of Assam in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by contesting on a Congress party ticket. Before resigning, Sushmita Dev had also left the WhatsApp group of the Congress party. At the same time, he also removed his bio from Twitter. He has described himself as a former leader of the Congress party in the bio. This step was taken by Sushmita Dev after Twitter has suspended her account. Sushmita is also one of the leaders whose Twitter account has been suspended along with Rahul Gandhi.
