Sushmita Dev became an MP from the Silchar seat of Assam in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by contesting on a Congress party ticket. After this, she was also given charge of the All India Mahila Congress. But, the resignation of Sushmita Dev has become even more trouble for Congress after the defeat in the Assam Legislative Assembly elections.

Before resigning, Sushmita Dev had also left the WhatsApp group of the Congress party. At the same time, he also removed his bio from Twitter. Sushmita is also one of the leaders whose Twitter account has been suspended along with Rahul Gandhi.
