Shraddha Walker Murder Case: A big announcement has been made by the Maharashtra government on Tuesday (December 20) regarding the Shraddha murder case that shook the country. In the Shraddha Walker murder case, Maharashtra's Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced to set up of an SIT and tabled the report before the budget session. The Maharashtra government will also demand from Union Home Minister Amit Shah fast-track the case and give strict punishment to the accused. State Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar has demanded capital punishment for the accused.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that so far it has been found that there was no political pressure on Shraddha to withdraw the complaint. We are probing the matter. There was a gap of one month between filing the complaint and withdrawing it, we will investigate what action the police took during that time. The SIT will also investigate the alleged delay in registering the case and withdrawal of Shraddha's letter and whether there was any political pressure behind it.

What did Fadnavis say on love jihad?

Devendra Fadnavis said that there is no opposition to the interfaith marriage from the state government. Some laws have been made on Love Jihad in other states, after studying all those laws, if necessary, the state government will decide on it so that no woman becomes a victim of it.

Shraddha's father met Deputy CM

Shraddha Walker's father Vikas Walker along with BJP MLA Kirit Somaiya met Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis at his Mumbai residence last week. Immediately after the meeting, he held a press conference and blamed the system for his daughter's death.

The state government had given assurance

Vikas Walker was assured by the state government that a high-level inquiry would be conducted into the matter and justice would be given to the family. Significantly, the charge of murder of Shraddha Walker has been leveled against her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala. Aftab had allegedly cut Shraddha's body into 35 pieces after the murder and kept these pieces in a fridge at his house in Mehrauli.

Aftab is accused of killing Shraddha

According to the police, accused Aftab Poonawala used to go to throw these pieces across the city every night. Shraddha Walker and Aftab Poonawala shifted from Mumbai to Delhi in May this year. There was a fight between the two over marriage and household expenses, in which Aftab killed Shraddha. Accused Aftab is currently in the custody of Delhi Police.
