Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer will be out of action for approximately two months. He suffered a serious, life-threatening injury during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney.
According to official BCCI information, Shreyas suffered a severe blow to his abdomen, rupturing his spleen and causing internal bleeding. He was admitted to a hospital in Sydney, and when the BCCI medical team discovered internal bleeding, he was immediately shifted to the ICU.
Shreyas' condition is currently stable, and he has been released from the ICU. However, according to BCCI sources, he will not be able to return to the field before January 2026. This means Shreyas will be out of the entire series against South Africa.
When will Shreyas Iyer return?
"We are continuously monitoring Shreyas' condition. A decision will be taken as per the advice of the medical team. As of now, he will be fit by January. He will be kept in Sydney until he is fit to travel to India."
RevSportz also reported that it may take eight weeks for Iyer (Shreyas Iyer Return Update) to return to action. He may be out of competitive cricket for two months. This means that he is out of the three-match home ODI series against South Africa in November-December. There is also suspense over his participation in the ODI series against New Zealand in January 2026.
