Chandigarh, Feb 18 (IANS) The nuisance of stray pigs in Gurgaon city is likely to be controlled with the authorities banning them.
"Roaming of pigs will be completely banned in the areas falling under Municipal Corporation Gurgaon from Feb 22, 2015," a state government spokesman said here Wednesday.
"Thereafter, stray pigs would be caught and expenses incurred in the process would be recovered from the pig owners."
He said that in addition criminal cases would be registered against pig owners violating the ban orders. This includes imposition of penalty and imprisonment of up to six months.
"People have to face a lot of inconvenience due to presence of large number of stray pigs in the municipal corporation area.
"It also hampers smooth flow of traffic, leading to road accidents. Pig owners have been directed to make adequate arrangements to ensure that no pig is found roaming after Feb 22," he added.
