Mumbai terror attack conspirator Tahawwur Rana had helped co-conspirator David Komlan Headley to get an Indian visa. Headley had come here and conducted a recce before the Mumbai attack. A Mumbai police official has given this information. It is worth noting that on Thursday itself, Tahawwur Rana was extradited from America and brought to India. On reaching India, the NIA formally arrested Tahawwur Rana on Thursday evening. The special court of Delhi has sent Rana to NIA custody for 18 days.

Tahawwur Rana has worked in the medical corps of the Pakistani army and after retiring from the army, he shifted to Canada in the 90s. Before going to Canada, Tahawwur Rana went to Chicago, America, where he started an immigration consultancy firm. Police officials said on Thursday that through his immigration firm, Tahawwur Rana had helped Mumbai attack co-conspirator David Headley get a ten-year extension of his Indian visa. David Headley had done the recce for the Mumbai attack. During his stay in India, Headley also pretended to do immigration-related work and during this time he remained in regular contact with Tahawwur Rana. According to the police, during David Headley's stay in India, he talked to Tahawwur Rana on the phone more than 230 times.
Tahawwur Rana himself had also come to India before the Mumbai attack.

During the attack, the terrorists targeted many iconic landmarks of Mumbai, including the Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels, Leopold Cafe, Chabad House, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station.
