Indian captain Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from international T20 after India's title win in the T20 World Cup. Rohit had said that he would continue to play for India in ODIs and Tests, but now he has broken his silence about the future. It is worth noting that India recently won the T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa under Rohit's captaincy and ended the 11-year drought of winning the ICC trophy.

Rohit had gone to attend an event in Dallas, USA. When Rohit was asked about his future during this time, he said that he is not a person who thinks much about the future, but the Indian captain expressed hope to play in the future as well. Rohit said I have said before that I am not a person who thinks too much ahead. So it is clear that you will see me playing for some time in the future as well.

Rohit's record in T20 was excellent.

Rohit scored 4231 runs in 159 matches in T20 and he holds the record of scoring the most five centuries in this format. He won the T20 World Cup title twice in his career. Rohit was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and now he won this title under his captaincy. Along with Rohit, Virat Kohli also retired from international T20. India will get a new captain in T20, but Rohit will continue to lead the team in ODIs and Tests.

What did Rohit say while retiring from T20?

Rohit had said after the title match of the T20 World Cup, there could not be a better time to say goodbye. This was also my last match. I have enjoyed it ever since I started playing this format. I have loved every moment of it. This is what I wanted. I wanted to win the cup.
