On the third day of the Edgbaston Test, England captain Ben Stokes had a heated argument with the umpires. He created a ruckus in the middle of the field over Yashasvi Jaiswal's DRS. The umpires allowed Yashasvi Jaiswal to take DRS even after the 15-second time limit had expired.

Jaiswal was given out LBW by the umpires in India's second innings on the third day. After discussing with fellow player KL Rahul, Yashasvi decided to take DRS. By the time Yashasvi signaled for DRS, the timer had become 0. Even after this, the on-field umpire sent the decision to the third umpire.

 

Stokes clashed with the umpires.

 

The England captain got angry at this and he had a heated argument with the umpires in the middle of the field. However, in the end, the decision came in favor of England. Like the on-field umpire, the third umpire also upheld the decision of Yashasvi Jaiswal's LBW out. This is how Jaiswal's short innings ended. He scored 28 runs off 22 balls with the help of 6 fours. There was a partnership of 51 runs for the first wicket between him and KL Rahul.

 

India has a lead of 244 runs.

 

Talking about the match, till the stumps on the third day, India has scored 64 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the second innings. The Indian team has a lead of 244 runs. The Indian team had scored 587 runs in the first innings thanks to Shubman Gill's 269 runs.

 

Jaiswal contributed 87 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 89 runs. In response, the England team could only score 407 runs in the second innings, and India got a lead of 180 runs. Harry Brook scored 158, and Jamie Smith scored 184. Both of them added 303 runs for the sixth wicket.
