Temperatures dip below 10°C in 16 districts of Rajasthan, snowfall continues in the mountains; cold wave intensifies in Delhi-NCR

The cold wave is now intensifying in North India. Since Tuesday, a cold wave has intensified across North India, including Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. The Meteorological Department has warned of further temperature drops in the coming days.

 

 

Fog wreaks havoc in these states.

Moderate fog prevailed in Assam and Meghalaya. Scattered fog was observed in Northeast India, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and western Madhya Pradesh.

 

 

The India Meteorological Department has issued a critical cold wave warning for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This sudden onset of extreme cold signals an early onset of winter conditions, with night temperatures expected to drop 2 to 5 degrees Celsius below seasonal normal.

 

 

Mercury below 10 degrees in 16 districts of Rajasthan

16 districts of Rajasthan have already recorded dangerously low minimum temperatures below 10 degrees. Temperatures in Sikar, Rajasthan, have reached 7 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued yellow and orange alerts in sensitive areas to ensure public awareness and preparedness against cold-related health hazards and potential agricultural impacts.

During the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls was recorded in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Light to moderate rain occurred in Kerala, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshadweep. Scattered light rain was recorded along the southern coast of Karnataka.

Fog in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Light to moderate rain is likely in coastal Karnataka. Scattered light rain is possible in Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram. Fog may occur in parts of Northeast India, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
