In the hilly areas of Kerala, it has been raining continuously for the last two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a yellow alert in all districts except Kasaragod for Tuesday. Firefighters have been dispatched to rescue residents due to floods in Nedunkunnam, and Karukachal villages of the Kottayam district.

Small rivers are in spate in many areas

Meanwhile, minor floods occurred in some areas of Mallappally taluk in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Small rivers are in spate in the villages of Mallappally, Anikad, and Tholiyur. According to Pathanamthitta District Information Officer, water entered some houses and shops in Kottangal village of Mallappally taluk. At the same time, a car flowing in the water was tied with a rope by the residents to a tree.

Incessant rain in the hilly areas for the last two days

Apart from this, the hilly areas of Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts have been receiving continuous rain for the last two days. However, no untoward incident has been reported from there so far. The rising water level of the Alappuzha river in the Malappuram district forced the authorities to shift people living on the banks to relief camps.
