The ringing of the bell of the third wave: increase in the number of active cases in Maharashtra, considering the closure of schools and colleges in Bengal

The fear of the third wave of corona in the country is deepening. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Wednesday that 8-10 days ago there were 5 to 6 thousand active in the state, which increased to 11 thousand in two days and can reach 20 thousand today. He has warned people about the danger along with being alert. Several actors who attended the Christmas party of NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule and her husband Sadanand Sule and Karisma Kapoor have turned positive. On the other hand, the situation of the third wave is being created in Bengal too. CM Mamta Banerjee has asked the officials to review the situation and consider closing the schools and colleges if needed.

 

 

Maharashtra Health Minister Tope has expressed concern over the fresh increase in new and active cases of Covid-19 in the state. He said it was like the ringing of alarm bells. In a discussion with journalists in Mumbai, he asked the public and officials to be careful. Tope said that last 8-10 days back the active cases in the state were between 5000 to 6000. On Tuesday, there were 11,492 active cases and on Wednesday they can reach 20 thousand. He said that the increase in active cases is worrying.

 

 

Tope also expressed concern over the rapid doubling of cases in Maharashtra and rising infections in Mumbai. Before him, the State Health Department said that on Tuesday, 2172 new corona cases were found in the state, this number was 1426 a day earlier. 22 more deaths were also reported on Tuesday. With this, the total number of corona infections in the state increased to 66,61,486 and the total death toll reached 1,41,476.

 

Mamta Banerjee said - if necessary, close the school-college

On the other hand, amidst the fear of the third wave in West Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday asked the officials to review the situation of Covid-19 in the state. He also directed the review of the Containment Zone due to increasing cases in Kolkata. In the administrative review meeting on Sagar Island, Banerjee said that if needed, schools and colleges can also be closed for a few days. CM Banerjee also said that government offices can be run with the presence of 50 percent employees. Corona cases are increasing in Bengal and some Omicron cases have also been found.

 

Review of preparations for Gangasagar fair

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had come to Sagar Island on Wednesday to review the arrangements for the Gangasagar Mela to be organized every year. He said that the decision regarding international flights and local trains will also be taken after reviewing the situation of Covid-19.
