Not only in the world but also India, the new variant of Corona, Omicron, is spreading its feet rapidly. This raises the question of whether the third wave has arrived in the country. Some experts have hinted at this. After all, when are the experts talking about the arrival of the third wave? The way the Omicron virus is spreading in India. Now more than 2.5 lakh cases are being reported in 24 hours. This has happened for the first time in the third wave of Corona. However, it is a matter of relief that during this time a large number of people are not required to be admitted to the hospital. Apart from this, a large number of patients are returning home after recovering.
1- The National Covid-19 Supermodel Committee has estimated the third wave of Corona. The committee has said that the third wave will peak in February. However, the third wave will not be as dangerous as the second wave. Dr. PN Arora, MD, Yashoda Hospital, Ghaziabad, says that once Omicron starts replacing Delta as the main variant, the cases of corona will increase rapidly. The Omicron variant will cause the third wave. Certainly, the third wave of Corona has arrived.
2- He said that getting two lakh cases in a day is only a sign of the third wave. Dr. Arora said that as far as the peak is concerned, it may go till February and March. He said that the arrival of one to two lakh cases daily is only a sign of the third symptom. But there is no need to be intimidated by it, he said. He said that the reason for this is a large number of people getting vaccinated.
3- Dr. Arora says that the increase in corona cases will depend on two things. First, the extent to which Omicron bypasses natural immunity that is acquired through exposure to the delta. Second, how much it bypasses the immunity gained from vaccination. In the absence of an answer to both these things, many possibilities are being created. Dr. Arora says that according to the serosurvey, the country has also increased its capabilities because of the old experiences. So it is expected that the new challenge can be dealt with. He said that the third wave in the country will not be as dangerous as the second wave.
4- He said that in India, doses of the corona vaccine are being given to people at a rapid pace. In this sequence, 154.61 crore vaccines have been administered so far. About 64 crore people in India have taken both doses of the vaccine. More than 46 percent of people in the country have taken adequate doses of the corona vaccine. At the same time, a total of 5,488 cases of Omicron, a new variant of the deadly coronavirus, have been reported in India. Because of the new variants, restrictions have been implemented in many states across the country.
What does the United Nations report say?
A United Nations report said that the third wave of corona in the country is expected to peak by the end of this month. Six to eight lakh cases can be reported daily. However, the faster the rate of infection is increasing, the faster it will also decrease. A sharp decline can be seen after February 15. In India, between April and June 2021, a deadly wave of the delta form of Corona killed 2.40 lakh people and hampered economic recovery. Similar situations may arise again shortly. The United Nations World Economic Situation and Prospects 2022 Report also states that the death toll and economic losses are projected to rise again due to new waves of infection with the highly contagious Omicron form of the corona.
