General elections are due in Turkey in June of next year. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has started preparing for it. The president gave a speech in the capital Ankara on Friday. President Erdogan said in his speech that the new constitution would strengthen "the rule of law, pluralism, and equality". However, these have all been seriously weakened under Erdogan's regime in recent years, according to rankings of international organizations.
