Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday launched a sharp attack on Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of spreading misinformation about the new scheme 'VB-G RAM G' (Viksit Bharat-Rozgar Ajeevika Mission). Chouhan asserted that the new law will strengthen the right to work even further.
Scheme to be implemented in all panchayats
In a press conference, Shivraj said that the opposition is spreading the lie that the new scheme will provide employment in only a few panchayats. He clarified that the scheme will be implemented in all panchayats across the country. Chouhan stated that the claim that the right to work is being taken away is false. It is worth noting that on January 10, the Congress launched a 45-day nationwide campaign called 'MGNREGA Bachao Sangram' (Save MGNREGA Campaign) to protest against the alleged dismantling of MGNREGA.
125 days of employment instead of 100
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "Rahul Gandhi and Kharge are weakening their own party by spreading misinformation. We have strengthened the right to work, not just on paper, but on the ground." He explained that now 125 days of work will be provided instead of 100 days. Additionally, a rule has been made to provide an unemployment allowance within 15 days.
No burden on states, scheme to be implemented in 6 months
The minister compared the expenditure, stating that the UPA government spent approximately two lakh crore rupees on MGNREGA, while the current government has spent nine lakh crore rupees. He informed that the new scheme will be implemented in six months, and until then, MGNREGA will continue. He said that there will be no additional burden on the states. The central government is already providing more funds. The investment made by the states will be used to strengthen infrastructure in the villages.
