New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS) Hoisting the Tricolour on the eve of the 66th Republic Day, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung Sunday appealed to the people of Delhi to participate enthusiastically in the Feb 7 Delhi assembly polls.
"We are at the cusp of welcoming a new elected government and I sincerely appeal to all the voters of Delhi to participate wholly and enthusiastically in the electoral process," Jung said on this occasion at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Jung said Delhi was emerging as a healthcare hub and appealed to the residents to make the city friendly and secure for women.
He also said that the Delhi government's top priority was providing shelter to the homeless in the capital.
As the chief guest at the ceremony, Jung was given a guard of honour by contingents of Delhi Police, Civil Defence, Delhi Fire Service and the National Cadet Corps. It was followed by a cultural programme.
Delhi's Chief Secretary D.M.Spolia and other officials were also present on this occasion.
The national capital has been under President's rule for about a year.
