Melbourne, March 18 (IANS) There is a high probability of rain or thunderstorm interrupting the cricket World Cup quarter-final between India and Bangladesh at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday, says the weather office.
Despite a sunny morning, there was a high or 70 percent chance of showers in the afternoon, according to the Australian government's Bureau of Meteorology.
Apart from the showers, the weatherman has also forecast "the chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening."
The overhead conditions could be a significant factor in this game as the weather forecast suggests.
As India look to hold on to their winning momentum and register their seventh win on the trot in the tournament, Bangladesh would aim to upset the defending champions just like they did way back in the group stages of 2007.
Melbourne has been rainy and grey for a couple of days. On Wednesday, the city had a mostly clear sky with light winds blowing.
But as the weather forecast suggests, Thursday will be a disturbing day for the players as rain and thunderstorm might force them to go on and off the field a couple of times.
