Dense to very dense fog and cold wave conditions are likely to continue over the plains of northwest India during the next five days, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Sunday. Above-normal minimum temperatures are likely over many parts of Northeast India and parts of Northwest India.

Because of this, there was a chill in the morning on the first day of the new year, but due to good sunshine during the day, the maximum temperature reached one degree Celsius above normal. Because of this, the weather was hot in the afternoon.

Yellow alert issued in Punjab
