There is relief news for the people of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh facing the heat of summer. RK Jenamani, the Senior Scientist of the Indian Meteorological Department, says that the Western Disturbance is very active these days. Due to this, there is no possibility of an increase in the temperature of Delhi, Northwest India for the next six to seven days. He said that on Tuesday, May 3, there may be rain in Delhi and surrounding areas.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, in the next 24 hours, it will be partly cloudy with a wind speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Due to this, the maximum temperature will decrease. RK Jenamani, the senior scientist of the department, says that the Western Disturbance is moving towards Delhi. In such a situation, a warning of rain and thundershowers has been issued in the entire North-West India including Delhi, Western UP, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. A yellow alert has been issued here.
According to meteorologists, till May 5, there will be cloudy or dusty winds in these areas. However, after May 7, there may be severe heat again. Talking about the weather of the capital Delhi, due to the cloudy sky and cold winds on Sunday morning, there was relief from the heat here. Afternoon, the sun's temper started getting tougher. The maximum temperature was 40.5 degrees Celsius above normal and the minimum temperature was one above normal at 25.8 degrees Celsius.
Alert states on heatwave
Because of the rising temperature and heatwave across the country, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Sunday issued an advisory to the Chief Secretaries of the states and asked them to make effective arrangements. He has said that along with the states, the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) along with the Meteorological Department (IMD) issue warnings about the heat daily.
He asked the states to disseminate the guidelines on the National Action Plan on Heat-Related Diseases at the district level. He said that the states should inform all their health workers about the early detection and management of heart diseases. He said that drinking water should be available in sufficient quantity at all health centers. Also, the cooling equipment must function properly in critical areas.
The Health Secretary said that IV fluids, ice packs, ORS, and all necessary equipment should always be available at the health facilities. He asked for an uninterrupted power supply in health centers to avoid scorching heat so that the cooling equipment keeps working to reduce the internal heat.
Government advised
Do not go out of the house if there is no urgent work in strong sunlight, especially between 12 and 3 pm. Do not do strenuous activities when you are out in the afternoon.
Avoid drinking tea, alcohol, coffee, or beverages that are high in sugar. Avoid consumption of high protein and fatty food.
Do not leave children or pets alone in a parked vehicle. Always carry a water bottle with you when you leave the house.
Wear a light cloth on the body, and cover the head with a cloth.
