WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has expressed concern about the rising corona cases. He said on Tuesday that the fresh wave of Kovid-19 cases shows that the epidemic is not over yet. In a media briefing regarding Corona, the WHO chief said I am concerned that the cases of Kovid-19 are increasing. He further said that the rising cases are putting further pressure on health systems and health workers. During this, regarding the deaths due to the corona epidemic in the world, he said that the chances of corona are unacceptably high.
During this, he also expressed the possibility of new variants coming to the fore. The WHO chief said that Omicron's sub-variants such as BA4 and BA5 could not only continue but increase the number of deaths worldwide.
Giving suggestions to contain the epidemic, he urged the governments of different countries to regularly review and adjust their plans to contain the corona based on the current epidemiology. He said that governments should again accelerate the shortfall in surveillance, testing, and sequencing. Along with this should also work for effective sharing of anti-virals.
During this, he also stressed the importance of corona vaccination to prevent the epidemic. He said that with the help of anti-corona vaccines, lakhs of lives have been saved in every country of the world. He suggested that the governments should focus on those who have not been vaccinated. So that the target of more than seventy percent vaccination can be achieved.
It is worth noting that the WHO releases a report every week regarding the corona epidemic. According to the report released on July 6, the increase in cases of infection across the world continued for the fourth consecutive week. Between July 27 and July 3, 46 crore corona cases were reported worldwide. Nearly the same number of cases were reported last week as well.
