World Cup: 'Kohli-Rohit or Samson cannot do work like Suryakumar', former spinner's big statement regarding World Cup

The inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav in the Indian team selected for the World Cup has surprised many cricket experts. Suryakumar has been given preference over Sanju Samson. Former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody described Surya as lucky. At the same time, India's veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh justified this selection. Harbhajan believes that Suryakumar can do what Sanju Samson cannot do with his batting. Even Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma cannot do the work like him.

If we look at the records of both the players in the ODI, Samson is superior to them, but he could not make a place in the team. Suryakumar has scored 511 runs in 26 ODIs at an average of 24.3. He has two half-centuries in his account. He has not been able to score a half-century in the last 18 ODI innings. On the other hand, Samson has scored 390 runs in 13 ODIs at an average of 55.7. During this period, he has scored three half-centuries with his bat. Apart from batting in the middle and top order, he also does wicketkeeping.

'It was the right decision to select Suryakumar instead of Sanju'

Harbhajan described Suryakumar as a complete player. He said that his competition in the middle order was with Sanju Samson, but Samson does not have a game like Suryakumar. The former spinner said in a TV program, "I think Suryakumar Yadav is a complete player. I don't think the selector did anything wrong with Sanju Samson. Sanju is a very good player. There are quality players, but you can only select 15 players. selecting Suryakumar instead of Sanju is the right decision. I don't think Sanju has the game that Suryakumar has in the middle overs.

Suryakumar can hit big shots from the first ball: Bhajji

Making his point more clear, Harbhajan said, "Suryakumar can hit big shots from the first ball. There is a sense of credibility when he is at the crease, but not so with Samson. He was out in the ODI while trying to play an aggressive shot after settling at the crease. What Suryakumar can do at that position (fifth or sixth) neither Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma or Samson will be able to do. It is most difficult to bat in this order.

Harbhajan further said, "While opening in ODIs, you know where to score runs. You have a lot of time, but when you go to bat after 20-25 overs, you need to know Where to score runs. You can find gaps to score boundaries and I don't think anyone in the Indian team can do that better than Suryakumar. So you have to play this kind of player. You don't waste it by keeping him out. Can do This ends the debate about whether Sanju should be in the team before Suryakumar or not.
