A major accident happened in Barabanki, UP on Monday morning. A double-decker bus parked on Purvanchal Expressway was hit hard by another bus. 8 passengers died on the spot, while 18 people were injured. The accident was so severe that half the double-decker bus got damaged.
This accident happened near Narendrapur Madraha village of Loniktra police station area. Police and administrative officials are on the spot. The rescue team is engaged in relief and rescue work. The injured have been admitted to CHC Haidergarh.
The bus was going from Sitamarhi in Bihar to Delhi
ASP Manoj Pandey said that a double-decker bus (UP 17 AT 1353) had left for Delhi on Sunday from Pupri town in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar. The bus was parked near Narendrapur Madraha village on Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki district at 4 am on Monday. The passengers on the bus were having tea and snacks in the canteen of UPEDA.
Half an hour later, at 4:50 am, another bus suddenly coming at a high speed hit the double-decker. All those who died in this accident are said to be passengers in the colliding bus, which was going from Bihar to Delhi to earn.
Was sitting on the other side, when the bus hit
Roshan Khatoon of Bihar said, "I was going to Delhi. Was sitting on the other side of the bus. The bus was standing on the side of the road when a bus coming from behind hit it hard." A passenger said, "I was in the bus whose driver hit me. Most of the people were sleeping. The blast woke us up.
Ashok Kumar, a resident of Bihar who was on the bus, said, "I had gone to wash my hands. Then the driver of the first double-decker in front of the canteen of UPEDA did not park the bus in the parking lot and parked it on the side of the highway. Due to this, the second speeding Volvo bus coming from behind rammed into it uncontrollably. The passengers of the bus which came from behind were killed and injured as the passengers of the bus which were already parked had gone to the canteen.
