On Thursday, the Supreme Court has given a big decision on the petition filed regarding Delhi's water crisis. The court has asked Himachal Pradesh to give 127 cusecs of water to Haryana with immediate effect, which will be released in Delhi so that thirsty Delhi can get relief. Along with this, the court has also asked the Delhi government to take measures to save water.

 

In the initial argument before the bench of Justice PK Mishra and KV Vishwanathan, which is hearing the case, Delhi government lawyer Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, should I only mention the highlights of the meeting?

 

'Himachal will give you water, let it go'

 

He further said, Himachal has no objection and Haryana has not given any answer. This is the complete summary of the report. On this, Justice Vishwanathan said, this is a problem of existence issue.

 

The court further said, is the water coming from Himachal, not from Haryana. The court said this is a question of right of way. Himachal is giving you (Haryana) 150 cusecs of water, let it go. If the need is felt, we will inform the Chief Secretary.

 

Haryana government called the idea of ​​water coming from Himachal impractical

 

While reading the report, the lawyer of the Delhi government said, that water from the Vyas river can be sent through the Haryana canal. However, the lawyer of Haryana opposed it and said that it was impractical.

 

On this, the court told Dr. Singhvi that after this there should not be any politics that Himachal has given water but Haryana is not giving.

 

Then Singhvi said that we had asked for water only for one month. It should have taken only five minutes.

 

On this, the court said that it is not taking cognizance of the petition but is giving this decision at the suggestion of the board. On this, Justice Mishra asked who would monitor whether Himachal was giving more water or not.

On this, Singhvi called Haryana's arguments unfortunate. Delhi government's other lawyer Shadan Farasat called Haryana's attitude regarding the water being released from Himachal as obstructive.

 

The court asked the Haryana lawyer what problem would it have if we ordered the release of surplus water.

 

Then the Delhi government lawyer once again said that this is a matter of only one month. Then the court interrupted him and said that you have said this five times. We are also in Delhi this month.
