Corona cases are decreasing continuously in the country, but the increasing death toll remains a cause for concern. On Wednesday, 93,828 new infections were found in the country and 6,138 people died. This is the largest number of infected people who lost their lives in a day. Earlier on May 18, 4,529 people died due to infection.
However, on the previous day, 68% of the newly infected cases came in only 5 states including Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu recorded the highest number of 17,321 cases. After this, 16,204 cases were reported in Kerala, 10,989 in Maharashtra, 10,959 in Karnataka, and 8,766 in Andhra Pradesh.
At the same time, 6,138 people died in the last 24 hours. This is the largest number of infected people who lost their lives in a day. Earlier on May 18, 4,529 people died due to infection. It was a matter of relief that 1 lakh 48 thousand 951 people defeated Corona on the last day. In this way, a decrease of 61,355 was recorded in the number of active cases i.e. people undergoing treatment. There are now 11.65 lakh active cases left in the country.
Record increase in deaths due to Bihar
The reason behind the record increase in the death toll is- updating the figures of deaths due to corona in Bihar on the previous day. Till June 7, the total death toll in the state was being reported as 5,458, which has now increased to 9,429. According to the Health Department, 3,951 deaths have been added to the death toll on the previous day.
He says that many people died during isolation at home. Some died on the way from home to the hospital and many died after recovering from the corona. After investigation, many such cases have been added. Due to this, an increase of 72% has been recorded in the death toll in Bihar.
Infection rate more than 15% in 15 states
Meanwhile, it is also a matter of concern that even now the infection rate in 15 states is more than 5%. According to WHO, if the infection rate is more than 5% then the situation cannot be called controlled. Currently, the infection rate in the country remains above 5% in Goa, Kerala, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Manipur, Karnataka, Puducherry, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, and Maharashtra.
